Early Years Foundation Stage
At Sowing Seeds Preschool we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), This is a statutory framework set to provide standards for the learning, development and care of children up to five years old. It is mandatory for all registered early years providers to follow it. The theory behind EYFS can be analysed through looking at its four main themes:-
Unique child – “Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.”
Enabling Environments – “Children will learn and develop in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and where there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and carers.”
Positive Relationships – “Children learn to be strong and independent through warm, loving and positive relationships”.
Learning and Development – “Children are all unique, learning and developing all in their own different ways. EYFS covers the education and welfare of all children that are in early years education, including children with special educational needs and disabilities. The framework states that children should be taught by ensuring challenging, playful opportunities across the prime and specific area of learning and development.
